Kids Going Genius

Hundreds of Middle school students across the district kicked off this school year in a new STEM Maker Space Genius Lab. A total of eight Maker Space labs were outfitted with new equipment, computers, and furnishings.  Each lab has two Makerbot 3D printer replicators, a mini CNC Carvey machine, a Laser engraver, a vinyl cutter, a class set of computers, a color laser printer and new furnishings.  These Maker Space labs are easily configured and adapted to a meet many different learning scenarios within the daily instructional plan.  This unique and non-traditional classroom setting is a huge hit with students and is quickly becoming a popular learning environment across the district. With these state of the art resources, students can take their genius ideas to reality using engineering design and modeling software to achieve great success.   The eight middle schools with these amazing STEM Maker Space Labs are: Challenger, Correia, Dana, DePortola, Knox, Marston, Standley and Pacific Beach Middle School.
