Student Equity Ambassadors

The 2017-18 Student Equity Ambassadors met at Kearny High School in December to prepare for the January Student Equity Coalition.  Students analyzed CHKS survey data and discussed it with their fellow Student Equity Ambassadors.  They participated in a Socratic Seminar and spent some time getting to know each other a little better.

Then in January, the 2017-18 Student Equity Ambassadors joined community members and partners, families, board members, district and school site staff at Scripps Ranch High School for the January Student Equity Coalition.  A solution-centered model was used to continue the discussion on ways to improve the connection, involvement, and inclusion of all students.  Student Equity Ambassadors Johnny Nguyen from Madison High School and Maya Salameh from San Diego High School helped host the event alongside the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department’s Program Manager and Resource Teacher.  The Student Equity Ambassadors used CHKS survey data and personal experiences to share their thoughts and opinions and worked with other attendees to ideate and develop prototypes.
