On March 13, 2018 over 250 female CTE biomed students from Hoover, Clairemont, University City, Serra, Mira Mesa and La Jolla High Schools attended the Women in Biotech event at the Salk Institute in La Jolla. Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn, recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was the featured speaker. Students also heard from a panel of women scientists and were able to ask questions to both Dr. Blackburn and the panelists. The event ended with a cookies and lemonade reception where students could interact and take photos with the scientists.
