Seniors who have spent the last four years in the CTE
Biomedical pathway at University City High School where given the opportunity to present
their Emergency Room project/proposals to doctors and nurses who run ER centers
at our local hospitals. The goal of the
project in the Biomedical Innovation course was to design an emergency
department that takes efficient patient care to the next level. Seniors worked in teams designing physical
layouts, developing a new innovation and proposing appropriate staffing levels
to achieve their goals. The power of
these projects comes from the feedback given by the panel of ER professionals
who are in these facilities on a daily basis.
The seniors are now preparing to participate in hands-on work based
learning internships that will take place at various local hospitals and
clinics during the second semester.
