The Youth Advocacy Department is excited to release "It's LIT(erature) Jr" this Spring! It's LIT(erature) Jr. is an identity-based curriculum module designed for grades 3-5 and is rooted in the California Common Core Content Standards as well as Teaching Tolerance's Social Justice Standards.
By creating a caring and culturally responsive learning community where cultural differences are acknowledged and valued, this standards-based curriculum highlights various and complex cultural differences that exist in the classroom and celebrates them as strengths worth exploring. Students will expand on concepts and issues from diverse perspectives, including race, gender, and sexuality and gain an well-rounded understanding of people within various communities in relationship to history and society in general.
