Entering BioTech

Students from the Kearny Cluster schools are determined to understand what it takes to become a scientist. From biological technology to medicine they are learning how to fight off influenza through a variety of design thinking techniques. Students first come up with creative solutions to demystify that the flu is not the same as the common cold and that the vaccine gives you the flu. They next figure out how to make the vaccine more affordable and more accessible. One creative approach, for example, was to partner with Lyft and create candy vaccines! These students are learning that to make it in the 21st century. They have to know so much more than book skills; they are motivated to be creative innovators.
