Muirlands Middle School has earned a Heart Safe School Accreditation thanks to Girl Scout Troup 3803

Muirlands Middle School became the first school in the state to earn a Heart Safe School Accreditation thanks to the hard work of Girl Scouts Selma Hyytinen, Allison Foerster, Maggie Johnson Natalie Saham and Amber Watt. They chose this accreditation as their Silver Award project for Girl Scouts. This was a very big project for Troup 3803 and they spent many hours for several years to accomplish it. They were able to enlist the physical education department at Muirlands to teach the required CPR, the school staff to assist in running emergency drills, and the girls help to spread the importance of CPR at community events. This is a great example of students taking action to solve a real world problem and now the girls plan to help other schools become Heart Safe.
