Dockless Dilemma

Dockless bikes and scooters have flooded the City of San Diego. There are many differing views as to the positive and negative impacts regarding this latest wave of the sharing economy. 11th grade students in Hoover High School’s Academy of Informational Technology will explore the pros and cons of dockless transportation through the “Dockless Dilemma” project. They will tackle questions like … Does the incorporation of dockless bikes and scooters provide transportation justice? Are bike and scooter transportation safe? What education is needed for dockless bikes and scooters? What do we do with broken, abandoned bikes and scooters? After students empathize with dockless businesses, riders, City Heights community members, and the local government, they will focus in on the needs of a specific group. With this group in mind, they will define a problem and create a solution. Hoover students will then present their solutions to the City of San Diego with the hope of improving the dockless transportation experience.
