AVID Center hosted the SDUSD 8th Grade Standouts Ceremony on May 9, 2019. Thirteen schools recognized a stellar student for their overall character and strengths as an AVID student. AVID Teachers and families of the honored students attended the event along with special guest SDUSD Board President Sharon Whitehurst-Payne. Our honored guest speaker was Clarence Fields, who was a student in the original AVID class and on the AVID Board of Directors, sharing his advice on how AVID strategies help him be successful today.
