Montgomery 6th Grade and the San Diego River

Students at Montgomery Middle STEAM Magnet are preparing for their June 5th exhibitions. The sixth grade English, science, and history classes have been learning about the San Diego river and the impact of the river on their community. They have researched the Kumeyaay, considered the impact of pollution, and planned for ways to protect and preserve this San Diego resource. They have compared the San Diego river to other rivers around the world and are writing a letter to the editor advocating for why it is critical that San Diego citizens take action to protect the river. Throughout their study of the river, students are learning to collaborate together, think critically about topics impacting their community, and see connections between disciplines and classes. Please plan to attend the exhibition to see their final products and to hear directly from students about their learning.
